Top Games
Austin at Faribault. Should be a close game right? Not likely. The Packers won the last won 63-39 as the Falcons don’t have the fire power to score against the Austin zone. It will be closer but still a 15 point Packer win.
Byron at Pine Island. Four losses kicked off the year but Byron is 10-3 since including wins in six of their last seven. This will not be a dozen point game like last time especially considering that Byron just beat Lourdes by nine. Broc Finstuen, Mike Coble, who has the bigger night?
Lake Park-Audubon at Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal. Without a doubt one of three best games of the night this is a Section 6A battle that many people will have eyes on because of playoff implications. Undersized battler Isaac Habedank will do a lot of the work on Jesse Bergh while Mitch Hall and Dawson Fox-Murray are the wing factors. Lake Park-Audobon with a big win.
Litchfield at Rockford. The Dragons have won five of seven while the home team has dropped two of three. I like the Dragons on a Friday night disciplined effort, they get the win by four.
North St Paul at Mahtomedi. The Polars need to beat a good team to get that confidence going again. They were beaten handily by Tartan and Chaska recently while the Zephyrs are playing well winning all but game. I feel like this is the game the Polars battle a good team to the end. I also feel like it could be upset night but I feel they will come a basket short.
Perham at Breckenridge. Don’t be surprised if the word “REVENGE” is on the board in the Yellowjacket visiting locker room tonight. Perham has two losses and one was the 65-62 duel from early December with the Cowboys. Watch the Steven Lipp vs Reid Moser battle at guard. Two senior veterans. Jenson Beach is the ex-factor. Perhan by four.
St. Anthony at Brooklyn Center. The Centaurs have about a one guy edge and he leads them to a seven point win. Like this game, the Davonta Prince vs Rhys Langums battle could be fun, they were AAU teammates.
Tartan at Edina. You have to love the potential Walt McGrory vs Jordan Horn match-up. They’ve played together in the past with Howard Pulley and are now future D1 players (as long as Walt takes one of his offers as expected). Both can handle but also be put in scoring roles. After watching both I feel like Tartan has a slight edge because they have more experienced players but the game is at Edina and they are coming off a huge win. Both will defend. Tartan will be the more agile team and I think Joevon Walker in the post could be the difference Tough call, I go with Tartan by four.
Virginia at Pequot Lakes. We are calling upset. This is the game that Virginia falls for the first time. It has to come on some night and Gage Westlund gives Pequot Lakes are fans a reason to rush the court.
WEM at Maple River. The first time these teams played it was a Bucs five point win. WEM had some holiday setbacks but now they have the Eagles again. Maple River seems to be missing a piece this year and this could be a Zac Olson explosion. Bus by 6.
Worthington at Marshall. Could this be a close game? Worthington has won six of seven boosting their record to 11-6 which is five more wins than they had last year. Can they beat Marshall? No. Outside of one junior with size the Trojans aren’t very big. Marshall by 21.
