MVP
PF Cam Gross (OPRF – 2017)
Gross is one of the better post players remaining in the state. The 6’6″ four man has a big frame, but retains quality mobility. Gross is quick finishing around the hoop using aggressive post moves. Finishes dump off passes well on the interior with strong hands and the ability to finish through contact. Handles it well from the mid-post and in being able to put it on the deck a couple dribbles and likes to use a spin move in the lane. Gross is a plus rebounder that boxes out and snatches rebounds out of the air. Passes well on the interior. Gross is a D2 prospect that is also being heavily recruited by several JUCO programs. He had 17 points in the win.
Best offensive performance
PG Isaiah Fuller (OPRF – 2018)
We came away very impressed with Fuller. The 6’1” 2018 point guard has really improved his ability to run a team. Shows good feel in the half court for running the show and getting others involved. Makes sound decisions with the rock in his hands passing the ball. Not a great perimeter shooter at this stage, but can score off the bounce getting in the lane for floaters and makes regular trips to the charity stripe. Rebounds well for a point guard. Fuller had 14 points. Potential D2 prospect in the junior class.
Best rebounder
PF Malachi Ross (OPRF – 2018)
Ross is a long and lanky 6’4” undersized post that has solid strength and plays with a great motor. He was outstanding using a quick second jump to get on the offensive glass for second chance opportunities and put backs. Ross had 10 points. Small college prospect.
Best intangibles
SF Jared Scott (OPRF – 2017)
The Wyoming football commit stands at 6’6” with a big and athletic frame. He was at his best in this game playing in the open floor. Scott is a plus athlete that runs the floor and did that consistently throughout the game. Love the energy and toughness he plays with. He had 10 points.
Best Underclassmen
PF Charlie Hoehne (OPRF – 2019)
The surprise of the game was this sophomore. Hoehne is a 6’6” four man that plays well on the interior. He has soft hands receiving the basketball and a good touch around the hoop. Understands how to seal his man off in the post and position his body to where he can score. Flashes a good shooting stroke from both mid-range and the free throw line. The most impressive part is his ability to attack off the bounce from the mid-range area. Can take his opposing post off the bounce a couple dribbles especially on the baseline and finish with good body control at the rim. Crashes the offensive glass for put backs and competes on the defensive end with his length. He had 13 points. Look forward to monitoring this sophomore during the spring!
