Upper State Bracket
Southside (Greenville) 71, Seneca 32
Jalen McKelvey (2017) scored a game-high 30 points, including six three –pointers to lead the Tigers to the Upper State Championship game against Clinton. Tuzion Brock had 17 points for the Tigers. Southside has won 22 straight games after losing to Wade Hampton (Greenville) 54-50 in the D.W. Poinsettia Classic at Greenville High.
The Tigers have outscored there playoffs opponents 223-118. Southside improves to 26-1 on the season.
Seneca finished the season at 20-8.
Clinton 72, Berea 62
Tymori Tribble (2017) scored a game-high 24 points to lead Clinton to the win. The Red Devils used a 10-0 run in the third quarter to take control of the game at 47-42 after trailing 42-37 with 3:17 left in the quarter. Kiah Young added 12 points, Zay Hurley had 11 points and Jalen Cook (2017) added 10 points for Clinton.
The Red Devils have not loss since the calendar turn 2017. Clinton last loss was to Newberry at the Bennie Bennett Classic at Newberry/ Batesburg-Leesville on December 28.
Berea was led by Raymond Williams (2018) 20 points in the loss. Clinton will play Southside at the Bon Secours Wellness Center on Saturday. Berea ended the season at 21-6.
Lower State Bracket
Dillon 74, Bishop England (Charleston) 64
Darius Boatwright scored a team-high 17 points to lead the Wildcats to Lower State Championship game in Florence. Tyquan Porter (2018) made layup and was foul to extend the lead to 32-29 with: 08 left in the half. Keenan Norman (2017) added 15 points and Porter added 13 points for the Wildcats. Dillon has knocked the Battling Bishop out of the playoffs for the second straight year.
Bishop England Christian Drummond scored a game-high 25 points and Brendan McHale added 24 points in the loss. The Battling Bishop finished the season at 20-6 and were the Region 7-3A champions.
Brookland-Cayce 67, Ridgeland-Hardeeville 65 at Estill
Lloyd Hemming leaning 23-footer at the buzzer propelled Brookland-Cayce over Ridgeland-Hardeeville into Lower State Playoffs and stunned the Jaguars fans. Hemming Class 3A player of the Year scored 13 of his 17 points in the final quarter. The Bearcats have won 15 straight games after losing to Woodland 61-55 at the Ashley Ridge Hoops for Hope Tournament on December 19.
Tre’von Anderson (2017) scored what looked like the game-winning basket for Ridgeland-Hardeeville with 17 second left at 65-64. Anderson led the Jaguars with 20 points and Kam Waddy (2017) added 15 points in the loss. Ridgeland-Hardeeville ends the season at 18-7. Brookland-Cayce will play Dillon in the Lower State Championship game at the Florence Civic Center on Saturday.
Class 3A playoffs (February 26)
Southside vs. Clinton at Bon Secours Wellness Arena at Greenville at 3:30 p.m.
Dillon vs. Brookland-Cayce at Florence Civic Center at 3:30 p.m.
