2017 Rankings Breakdown : No.60-51
Prep Hoops continues its coverage of the 2017 recruiting class. Here is a closer look at rankings 60-51.
#51 – Darius Bryant – Lexington (pictured on front also)
Bryant has been the go to guy all season long for the Wildcats. Bryant currently has 1,586 carer points according to Wildcats Head Coach Bailey Jackson. Bryant is a undersized scoring guard who can really fill it up in a early.
Bryant is averaging 23,6 ppg this season for the Wildcats. Bryant is starting to hear from NCAA D2 schools in the Palmetto State according to Jackson. Bryant ran AAU with Upward Stars Upstate last summer with Hayden Brown, Luke Brenegan and Tae Cannon.
#52 – Darius Copeland – North Augusta
Copeland a versatile player can play the 1-3 positions on the floor for the Yellow Jackets. Copeland a All-Region performer will play Greer HS in the 1st Round of the playoffs this coming week.
Copeland 6’3 is averaging 13.1 ppg, 6.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists this season. Copeland is qualified academically according to Yellow Jackets Head Coach Tony Harrell.
Coker College has shown interest in Copeland according to Harrell.
#53 – Marquise Riley – Richland Northeast (Columbia) (pictured)
Riley got eligible at the semester for the Cavaliers. Riley is a very athletic wing player with great length. “Marquise is a player that really excels in a open floor up-tempo style of play” said Prep Hoops Bret Swanson.
Riley played AAU with the Carolina Wolves. Riley will need to entertain the junior college route for next season.
#54 – Donalson Fanord – Walnut Grove Christian (Fort Mill)
Fanord 6’8 post player has been at Walnut Grove Christian the past 3 seasons. Fanord played AAU with the Fort Mill Knicks. Fanord is averaging 11.9 ppg and 11.9 rebounds this season while swatting 2.2 blocks per game.
Fanord has scored 887 career points in 71 games played at Walnut Grove Christian.
Walnut Grove Christian doesn’t belong to the SCHSL or the SCISA. The Christian Warriors play a independent schedule.
#55 – Khalil Shakir-Harris – Blythewood
Shakir-Harris 6’4 has committed to play at Limestone (SC) next fall. NCAA D2 school.
#56 – Maurice Hardiman – James Island
Hardiman 6’6 power forward didn’t play at all this season for the Trojans. Hardiman played AAU with TMP last summer. Hardiman had some off the court issues that he couldn’t work out to get back on the floor for the Trojans this season. Hardiman will need to look to go the junior college route next fall.
#57 – Matt Garay – Beaufort (pictured)
Garay a left-handed power forward has the ability to step-out and knockdown shots. Garay 6’7 played on the AAU circuit with the Carolina Ballers. Garay is averaging 15.4 ppg and 7.7 rebounds this season. Garay earned Region VIII-AAA Player of the Year last season.
Garay has heard from some NCAA D2 schools this spring.
#58 – Justin Thompson – Dutch Fork (Irmo)
Thompson inked early to attend Limestone (SC) NCAA D2 next season.
#59 – Brandon Martin – Cardinal Newman (Columbia) (pictured)
Martin 6’5 a combo forward is having a good season for the Cardinals. Martin is the son of South Carolina Head Coach Frank Martin. Martin is averaging 12.2 ppg and 7.8 rebounds this year.
Martin played AAU ball last summer with TMP. Martin could be looking to play AAU this spring with a team during the NCAA Signing Period.
“Brandon is that glue guy who does just a bit of everything to help you win games. Martin has a great nose for the ball on both ends of the floor and always seems to be in the right position” said Swanson.
#60 – Chandon Davis – Fairfield Central (Winnsboro)
Davis a 6’3 left-handed wing player is averaging 10.8 ppg and 9.1 rebounds this year. Davis a All-Region performer carries a 3.4 GPA in the classroom. Davis played AAU with the Carolina Wolves last summer.
