Shuler scored 20 points in the 64-36 win over Lake Marion. The win improves the Wolverines to 11-10 and dropped the Gators to 3-17 on the season.
Play of the Game: Mikal Shuler half-court shot
Shuler made a half-court shot at the buzzer to end the first quarter. That basket improved the Wolverines lead to 16-11 and took the life out of the Gators.
Best Offensive Performance: Keyshawn Aiken-Lake Marion (Santee) (2017)
Aiken scored 24 points for the Gators. In the first half, Keyshawn scored 16 of the Gators 18 points in the half.
Best Defensive Performance: Woodland (Dorchester)
Woodland held the Gators to 18 points in the first half. The Wolverines grabbed 25 rebounds.
Intangibles: Lake Marion Injuries
Two of the best players for the Gators are hurt with concussions. Trajean Green and J’Guan Clark that take the pressure off Keyshawn Aiken. Green helps Aiken on the defensive side of the floor. By getting rebounds and forcing the offense to take more perimeter shots. With his shot blocker and presents in the middle. Clark’s help is that he will give the Gators another option on the offense. Clark controls the offense with his quick drive to basket and he can pop out threes.
Best Player off the Bench: Michael Shuler-Woodland (Dorchester) (2021)
Shuler is a 5’6 point guard for the Wolverines. Shuler scored two points off the bench for the Wolverines. Shuleris a quick point guard that runs the plays for Woodland. Shuler replaces his brother on the floor Mikel. Michael sets the screen on offense and will steal the ball for the Wolverines on defense.
Best Underclassman: Jasaun Pryor-Woodland (Dorchester) (2019)
Pryor is 6’3 Small Forward for the Wolverines. Pryor will take the pass from the point guard and score. Pryor will step out and shoot the three or he will drive the ball to the glass with his quickness. Pryor will block the ball from the defender and rebound the ball in the paint.
Under the radar: Lavelle Davis- Woodland (Dorchester) (2020)
Davis is 6-4 center for the Wolverines. Davis fights for position in the paint with the other team’s big guy. Davis also came out and guarded the guy on the perimeter. Davis will get the block the ball and get rebounds. Davis also has a good perimeter and hook shot.
Best Project: Braxton All-Woodland (Dorchester) (2018)
All is 6-6 center for the Wolverines. All gets better at positioning in the paint and blocking out. All would be another weapon for the Wolverines on both sides of the court.
Takeaway:
Woodland travelled to Lake Marion and crashed senior night with a 64-36 win. The Gators senior Keyshawn Aiken and Roy Walker were the only ones to score . Lake Marion must beat Hanahan on Tuesday to make the playoffs or there season is over. Woodland has already clinched the third seed in Region 6-2A.
