MVP | ANTONIO WARNER | SJHS ’18
Antonio Warner was locked in on both ends throughout this game. He scored it from the perimeter and finished in the paint. Warner was also very active and alert defensively.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | ANTONIO WARNER | SJHS ’18
Warner scored a personal best 38 points tonight to lead all scorers. He hit all 8 of his free throws, and was tough to keep out of the paint.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | ANTONIO WARNER | SJHS ’18
While we don’t have an official count, Warner probably recorded at least a half-dozen steals. He was also active on the defensive glass, impactful in the passing lanes, and did a nice job quickly converting turnovers into points on the other end.
BEST UNDER-THE-RADAR PERFORMANCE | JORDAN GIBSON | SJHS ’18
Jordan Gibson recorded 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a block last night. The smooth 6’5 guard showcased good range on his jumper and a nice mid-range pull up.
BEST GUY OFF THE BENCH | GRANT YATES | BHS ’18
Grant Yates scored 9 of his 14 points in the first half. The sharpshooting forward hit four total threes.
BEST REBOUNDER | SHONARI STREET | BHS ’17
Along with his fundamentals and patience, Shonari Street demonstrated a great deal of toughness and strength in the paint. The 6’7 forward is so good at boxing out and protecting the ball in traffic, and gives great effort on the offensive glass.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | CARTER SVENSON | BHS ’20
Vocal. Unselfish. Fearless. Any or all of those three words can be used to describe Carter Svenson. The crafty and quick lefty hit a clutch three to keep his team in the game with under a minute left.
BEST WORK RATE | BRAYDEN GAULT | BHS ’18
Gault recorded a team-high 17 pointsBrayden Gault is a flat out work horse. At 6’4, he is active on the glass and doesn’t mind contact when finishing around the basket.
BEST INTANGIBLES | ANTONIO WARNER | SJHS ’18
Warner was tough to stop in this one. The junior lead guard kept applying pressure on his opponents, and was instrumental to his team’s win.
BEST STORY TO WATCH MOVING FORWARD
Battlefield have certainly gotten better over the course of the season. They were without double-double machine Will Bounds last night. The Bobcats have a chance to make a strong run in the post-season, and will probably benefit from last night’s wake-up call.
