The Myrtle Beach Seahawks needed to win tonight to clinch the 2nd place spot in the Region. The Seahawks did just that over North Myrtle Beach 69-46. Chestnut delivered 11 points and 6 rebounds on Senior Night for the Seahawks.
Play of the Game : Jayce Allen – Myrtle Beach (2018) (pictured)
Allen blocked a Chiefs shot with 51 seconds left in the 2nd quarter and the fans never let the visiting Chiefs ever get back in the game. Allen ignited the hometown Seahawks crowd.
Best Offensive Performance : Robert Swanson – Myrtle Beach (2018)
Swanson just a pure point guard is so crafty it’s scary how good he can be down the road. Swanson just simply gets his teammates involved in the offense so well and never seems to turnover the ball. Swanson finished with 14 points and 5 assists this evening.
Best Defensive Performance : Emorie Knox – Myrtle Beach (2020)
Knox just a freshman played great on the ball defense all night on the Chiefs back court. Knox plays with so must poise for his age. Knox finished the night with 11 points.
Best Intangibles : Cason McClendon – North Myrtle Beach (2019)
McClendon can play with his back to the basket or step-out and knockdown the mid-range jumper.
Best Guy off the Bench : Jayce Allen – Myrtle Beach (2018)
Allen was a great spark for the Seahawks this evening. Allen finished 11 points and his a few three pointers to spark the Seahawks.
Best Under the Radar Performance : Tryon Stockdale – North Myrtle Beach (2019)
Stockdale a shooting guard is a very confident shooter for the Chiefs. Stockdale hit a few three pointers tonight along with showing a nice mid-range game. Stockdale finished the game with 19 points.
Best Underclassmen : Emorie Knox – Myrtle Beach (2020)
Knox along with Swanson make up a great back court for the Seahawks. Knox saw a great deal of playing time last season as a 8th grader for Seahawks Head Coach Craig Martin.
Best Project to Watch : Cason McClendon – North Myrtle Beach (2020) (pictured)
McClendon is already 6’5 and plays quarterback on the gridiron for the Chiefs. McClendon has a bright future in both sports.
Best Takeaway :
The Seahawks clinched the #2 spot in the Region and will now host Dreher. #3 North Myrtle Beach will have to travel to Lower Richland for the 1st Round. The Seahawks bench came alive tonight with over 20 points in the game.
The Seahawks finished on a 18-0 in the second quarter to take a 35-22 lead into halftime.
