Best Offensive Performance: Derrick Grissett -Loris (2017)
Grissett scored a game-high 14 points. Grissett made three three-pointers in key stretches of the second half to stop several runs by Dillon.
Best Defensive Performance: Kavon Drayton –Loris(2017
Drayton grabbed 11 rebounds for the Lions. Drayton controls the inside for the Lions by blocking out and rebounding.
Intangibles: Keenan Norman-Dillon (2017)
Norman is a 5’10 guard for the Wildcats that is ranked #90 out of the top 125 in Prep Hoops SC rankings.Norman has a quick shot release and loves to stay on the perimeter. Norman’s threes made a huge comeback for the Wildcats in the second half after trailing 25-14 at the half.
Best Guy off the Bench: Bobby Gore-Loris (2017)
Gore scored nine of his ten points coming off the bench in the second quarter. Gore helped ignite the Lions run in the second quarter. Gore made two three-pointers and also helped seal the game with his free throw at the end of the game.
Best Underclassmen: Jahrique Isaiah-Loris (2019)
Isaiah is a sophomore that plays point guard. Isaiah is very poised for his young age and excels in transition.
Best Guy under the Radar: Rakeem Fletcher-Dillon (2018)
Fletcher is a junior that plays guard. Fletcher will press his man on the defensive side. He doesn’t draw contact.
Best Project: Darius Boatwright-Dillon (2019)
Boatwright is 6’7 forward for the Wildcats. Boatwright needs to extend his game to the mid-level.
Takeaway:
Loris went on the road and stole a region win at Dillon. The Lions avenged a 76-60 loss to the Wildcats. Anton Smith an Oakbrook Prep transfer that is ranked #95 in the top 125 in the Prep Hoops SC rankings. Smith hit his avenge of 11 points to be the second leading scorer for the Lions. Travis Walters also fell short of his average of 11 rebounds with only six rebounds for Loris. The win has put Dillon at a must win vs. Waccamaw for the Region 6-3A title on Wednesday. If, Dillon loses and Loris and Lake City wins on Wednesday there will be a four-way tie for the Region top-seed. The Wildcats is home to State Senators and Head Football Coach Jackie Hayes. Also, 2012 Boston Red Sox draft pick Jamie Callahan was a pitcher for Dillon is playing for the Salem Red Sox in the Carolina League.
