Williams hit a free-throw to give the Red Raiders the 41-40 lead with 1:04 left in the third.
Best Offensive Performance: Wills Hartness-Greenville (2019)
Hartness scored 14 points for the Red Raiders. Hartness made four threes in the game.
Best Defensive performance: Lutwon Burton-Greenville (2017)
Burton had 14 rebounds for the Red Raiders. Burton imposed his will by blocking shots and rebounds. Burton controlled the glass and the paint for Greenville. Burton would make the Lions player change their shot.
Intangibles: Kaelin Braswell-Greenville (2017) & Dorian Williams-Greenville (2019)
Braswell and Williams created havoc for the Lions tonight with their steady ball pressure.
Best Guy off the Bench: Jaylin Gibbs- Daniel (Central)(2019)
Gibbs came off the bench to give the Lions a spark midway in the second quarter with his defense. Gibbs also had six rebounds, two steals and also scored two points for the Lions.
Best Underclassmen: Wells Hoag-Greenville (2018)
Hoag is a 6’2 shooting guard. Hoag will fake pass to create an open three. Hoag will also go after the loose ball on the floor and will come behind the defender to steal the ball.
Under the Radar: Brenton Benson –Daniel (Central)(2020)
Benson is a 6’5 freshman center for Daniel. Benson picked up three early fouls in the game. In the game Benson fought hard for his position against Burton. Benson also defends well in the paint and on the glass. Benson played a lot more poised than his age matching up with Lutwan Burton in the paint.
Best Project: Kahare Teasley-Daniel (Central)(2019)
Teasley is a 6’4 center for Lions. Teasley is a big- bodied kid that plays football for the Lions in the fall.
Takeaway:
Greenville made the home crowd happy on senior night with the win against Daniel. The Red Raiders seniors Kaelin Braswell, Willis Hartness, and Lutwon Burton played their final regular season home game. Greenville has a chance to win the Region with a win and a loss by Wren on Thursday night. The Red Raiders’ basketball court is name for Bill Johnson the longtime athletic director at Greenville. Daniel basketball player Jake Venables is a Clemson Football commit for 2018, is the son of defensive coordinator Brent Venables for the Tigers.
