At 6’3, Perkins is an all-around player with a versatile skill set who has the ability to score on the wing, but can also play inside when needed.
He spent the summer playing for KC Run GMC and improving his all-around game.
“My summer I focused on getting stronger and getting healthy,” he said. “I focused on improving on my ball handling, my jumper and passing.”
Park Hill South opened the 2016-17 season 13-4 and Perkins is one of four players averaging double figures this season. He has spent time inside defending big guys, and on the perimeter matched up against guards and says he just tries to do what he can to help his team be successful.
A fan of Russell Westbrook,
Perkins says his family have been the biggest influences on his basketball career.
“My family (have) made sacrifices and supported me with all I’ve done with basketball and just want show them it’s worth it,” Perkins said.
He said he enjoys watching Westbrook play because of his unselfish attitude and willingness to help his team.
“He plays hard and he makes his team and others better he doesn’t do it by scoring but all assets of the game so I tried to do the same,” Perkins said. “Also have that ‘Mamba’ mentality that when I step on the court I’m the best player.”
Although he currently does not hold any offers, Perkins has heard from several NCAA Division I schools, including Drake, Virginia, Wichita State, Nebraska and Saint Louis.
