“I’ve had the basketball in my hands all the time,” said Mucius, a native of New York City. “My dad played in college, so I mean I’ve always been watching him. I’ve had the ball in my hands since I was 7.”
If there is one thing that coaches love about Mucius, it’s his versatility. There isn’t much he can’t do on either end of the floor.
“I can play 1 through 4,” Mucius stated. “I can shoot the ball well. Attack the basket. Be a playmaker. Make my teammates better.”
Admittedly over the past couple of years, Mucius has had to put in extra time to become a more consistent jump shooter. He’s currently focusing on other areas of improvement.
“Getting stronger. Making different decisions on the court,” said Mucius. “Being able to attack the basket at different times. Making jump shots at different times.”
Mucius has received scholarship offers from Rutgers, Xavier, Seton Hall, Virginia Tech, Saint Joseph’s, UMass, Minnesota, Oregon, Saint Louis, Penn State, St. John’s, and Wake Forest. He’s not really worried about his recruitment. Just focused on the task at hand with Saint James.
“I have a lot of offers, I can’t really remember them all,” Mucius declared. “I’m going to take my time and really work on the season this year.”
If there’s one thing that Mucius prides himself on, it’s how hard he plays no matter the situation. He believes that his strength is a bit overlooked.
“Trying to give it my all every single game. Even if I’m not as strong as ppl thing I am, I try to play stronger than I am.”
What can coaches at the next level expect from Mucius if he joins their program?
“Versatility. A guy thats gonna play hard no matter what. Try to take a team to the National Championship.”
