A standout 6’0 point guard, Bernard is among the Kansas City area’s fastest lead guards. He is a terrific floor general that can get all the way to the basket, and has improved his perimeter shot as well.
After a summer spent playing with MoKan Elite 16U, Bernard has taken his game to another level. He said he spent the offseason focusing of trying to get his teammates open looks and playing pressure defense and staying in his shorts at all times.
This season, St. Joseph Lafayette has gotten off to a rough start as the team is trying to overcome injuries and graduation.
“We are having a rough season this year but we are going in the right direction,” he said. “My role is to get to the rim push the ball get my teammates open shit and knock down open shots.”
Bernard said he isn’t looking forward to playing any specific team on the Irish schedule.
“I look forward to playing every team on our schedule and giving my all every play and helping my team win,” he said.
A fan of Russell Westbrook, Bernard said his dad has been the biggest influence on his basketball career.
“He has been there all the way through my career since second grade all my skills I have I learned from him,” Bernard said. “I look up to Russell Westbrook the way that he gets his team into the game and still gets buckets I would like to say I play like him in the NBA.”
Bernard currently holds an offer from State Fair Community College has heard from several other schools, including Northern Iowa.
