An athletic 6’3 2017 wing player, Bennett is a well-rounded, balanced and aggressive player that can get to the rim and has improved his perimeter shot and is able to knock down 3-pointers and pull-up jumpers.
This pas summer, Bennett played with Oklahoma Run PWP on the Under Armour Circuit and said his main focus was to really improve his ball handling and shooting off the dribble.
“I’m a great spot up shooter and by working on my handles it would allow me to make my game harder to stop,” Bennett said. “It would make getting to the rim easier and allow me to create space even better.”
He has since committed to Lehigh, choosing the Mountain Hawks over a slew of NCAA Division I offers.
Lafayette (7-9) is off to a slow start this season with Bennett out of the line-up, but when healthy, he, point guard and wing Sterling Hicks form a formidable squad.
“Our high school team this year has had its ups and downs but we are on the path to success. We are starting to truly mold as a team and once we do that we will be hard to stop,” Bennett said. “Individually my role is to be the leader, keep everyone in balance and get buckets.”
Bennett said My dad has for sure had the biggest influence on my career alongside my mom. My dad is the one who taught me everything i know and the one who has made me who I am today.
A fan of James Harden, Bennett says he has enjoyed watching the Houston Rocket guard play this year now that he has taken over the point guard position and says he tries to take elements of his game and make them his own.
“I have always been a Chef Harden fan and he’s just been on another level this year,” Bennett said. “I can relate to James because he is a bigger guard who can play multiple positions and can shoot and create his own shots. I have taken a lot of moves from James, his between the legs crossover, step back and euros are the main ones I have taken from him.”
