Last week Tulane sat front row for Pickford’s 32 point explosion in a big Maple Grove win over Apple Valley. A day later they offered him a scholarship. Yesterday Siena College followed up by also offering Pickford.
Pickford has always been a very talented 2017 but injuries have led to long time periods of missed action for him. Now the young man is fully healthy and seeing his hard work pay off.
“I was very excited when I received the offers,” Tywhon said. “I’ve been working all these years to get to this spot right now.
“It is very satisfying showing that my hard work is paying off but I’m not going to stop now. I am going to keep working and pushing every day.”
The Crimson are 5-1 and a 16 point win over Apple Valley speaks volumes about their potential. Pickford is scoring the 21, Brad Davison dropping in 25 a night, and Jack Hutchison is giving the team a dozen a game.
They’ve also got big contributions from Bubba Horton and Ryan Bredensteiner who have really stepped up.
“The season so far is going great for me I’m averaging a double double and getting more college notice,” said Pickford. “The goal for me is to win a state title.”
Tywhon is grabbing 10.2 rebounds a game as he’s also one of the state’s best rebounding wings. The list of teams that have come to watch him play recently and/or are showing interest is impressive.
“Tywhon is hearing from Northern Iowa, UW-Milwaukee, South Dakota State, San Diego, Cal State Fullerton, and Loyola-Chicago,” his coach said.
