At 6-1, Newhouse prides himself as a scorer. It’s something he’s used to doing, and something he’s relished all of his basketball career.
“My game revolves around my outside shooting,” Newhouse said. “Being able to catch fire early is a big help for my game as well.”
His outside shooting prowess benefits his entire game. It opens up lanes for driving to the basket and creating shots for others.
Newhouse doesn’t worry too much about his offensive game, but knows he must improve his defense to become a better overall player.
“I need to become quicker on my feet and more stronger on defense,” Newhouse said.
Currently, Newhouse hasn’t heard from any major colleges, but has heard from community colleges around the area. He’s hoping to play basketball in college and transfer to a four year university to play there as well.
In the meantime he will get his chance to showcase his skills in the WESCO Conference. Currently Monroe is 12-5 and every game is a battle.
“WESCO is great because every team is equal,” Newhouse said. “Any team can beat anyone on any given night.”
Newhouse is currently averaging 22 points, five rebounds and two assists per game.
