Prospect Spotlight: Sean Cobb (2019)
Currently checking in at No. 13 in Michigan’s 2019 rankings, 6-foot-6 wing/post Sean Cobb has plans to diversify his game over the next couple of seasons.
He plays in the post for his high school team, Williamston, but says that at the next level he’s looking to play wing, or even shooting guard.
“My strengths right now are rebounding, and I still need to improve on that, and my shooting too. Those are the two things that I’ve been working on the most right now, is my shooting and my rebounding. And those are the two things I would say are my strengths, too,” said Cobb.
“I feel like when colleges come around, I’ll be more of a shooting guard than a center like I play in high school.”
His role right now with the Hornets is to bang in the post and gobble up as many rebounds as he can, and at 6-foot-6, he can do that.
“My role on my high school team is to be dominant on the boards, and get a lot of put-back points, said Cobb.” Most of the time I’m in the post and working on rebounding and getting good outlets.”
But at 6-foot-6, he’s also lending himself to become a good-sized wing, and he’ll be honing that craft with the Michigan Mustangs this spring and summer — when he may also see a sharp spike in his recruitment.
“I have gotten a few letters, but no offers for anything. I’ve gotten letters from U of D, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa and Spring Arbor,” said Cobb, who will play his 16U season this offseason.
“Recruiting is a very good thing, but I can’t worry about it too much. I still have a long way to go, and there could be a lot that happens between now and my senior year – which is when colleges will really take interest in me.”
