“I’m a fast paced player,” said Carter, who was born and raised in Manassas. “I like to shoot. I can drive to the basket. Get my teammates involved.”
Coach John recognized Carter for his athleticism and defensive potential. At 6-foot-4, Carter has the ability to defend multiple positions and protect the rim at times.
“Probably my defense,” Carter replied when asked what might be one thing he does on the court that most don’t realize. “Especially help defense.
Carter serves as the primary ball-handler for his team. Continuing to develop his ball skills will be important as he prepares for college, and certainly is an added bonus for someone with his size and athleticism.
“Attacking the basket,” said Carter, when asked what might be the most improved aspect of his game since last season.
Still considered a sleeper at this point, there are several things Carter must polish before college programs begin their involvement. He cited shooting, ball handling, and just talking on defense as a few focus areas for improvement.
What can a coach who is interested in recruiting Carter expect him to bring to a college program?
“Talent.”
There is no question that Carter has the potential to make a significant two-way impact both at the high school and college level. Coach John has developed his fair share of college prospects at Colonial Forge, and it appears that Carter will be his first at Colgan.
