A terrific playmaker that has the ability to break down defenses off the dribble and pressure the basketball at the defensive end, Williams says he is a vocal leader that is aggressive on both side of the ball.
Williams was a big part of a standout Run GMC 15U team and teamed with some of the Kansas City area’s top players in the 2019 class, including Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Zack Harvey, Lamel Robinson, Josh Earley, Clearance King and others.
“I focused on being more of a vocal leader this summer and putting my teamates in positions to be successful on the court while still maintaining my aggressiveness,” he said. “My jumper from the 3 is something i worked on this summer and it has improved while still finding ways to create.
“All (my Run GMC teammates) made the game so easy and we played great together which lead to the great summer we had , it was one of many to come.”
Although he currently does not have any offers, Williams has drawn interest from several Division I programs, including Navy, Denver, St. Johns, Kansas State and Wichita State.
Williams says Park Hill South prides itself in playing hard and together and considers himself a leader on the team and is currently averaging 16 points per game and is one of three players averaging in double figures.
“I try to bring my best everyday to better my team,” he said. “We are going to be successful these next couple of years. With (us) in double figures across the stat sheet is a good combination for winning.”
Williams says he enjoyed watching UConn guards Kemba Walker, Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright lead their team to chanpionships.
“They came out and established themselves as dogs on the court which gave them the hump over maybe more talented teams and i took what i saw them do like creating for others, knocking down shots, just implemented all those things into my game,” he said. “I watch a little bit of everyone ranging from Kemba Walker, Lonzo Ball, Stephen Curry, Damien Lilard,.
“I just try to take what i see them do and add it to my game.
Williams said he looks forward to competing against Lee’s Summit West, one of the top teams in the Kansas City area.
“They have some players that i know well and know they will give me they best (Mario Goodrich and Elijah Childs) competition, I think it would be a good one,” he said.
