“I’m more like a point guard. I like to dish the ball out and score when I have to,” stated Hines, who recalls playing the game for about 13 years. “I’d rather have 20 assists than 20 points.”
One thing Hines has worked diligently on is improving the range on his jump shot. He leads the team in made treys, and has hit five or more in five separate games so far.
“How I see the floor,” Hines began when asked to describe an underrated aspect of his game. “Also, how I communicate on the floor.”
Hines is yet to field any scholarship offers, but is receiving interest from a handful of division one programs. Owning a very respectable 3.4 overall GPA, Ireton is a very recruitable player for high academic programs.
“My team doesn’t really have a lot of scorers. I just gotta pick them up,” Said Hines about why he’s been so aggressive this year. “If we’re down, I gotta find a way to score to get my team going.”
What can coaches interested in recruiting Hines expect him to bring to a college program?
“Being a point guard, know ing the game of basketball. Seeing the floor.”
