Richmond’s Christian Harvey is a guy that has come onto the scene starting this summer and now looks like a legit contender to break into the higher end of the rankings.
While Richmond is a very young team this season and struggling a little bit, they have been pretty competitive and have had chances to win most of the games. A lot of that is due to Harvey.
“We have been alright,” Christian said of his team’s play to this point. “We just have to learn how to finish. How to compete at the end. We just have to come together and get a win at the end of the game.”
One of the best parts of Harvey’s game is his ability to score the ball. He’s got the capability against any team to put up 30+ points and look like one of the best players in the class. He’s still got to work on his jump shot and make that a bigger weapon but when it comes to driving and getting to the rim to finish, he’s one of the best in the state.
“Getting to the basket,” Harvey said of what is working for him this season. “I have to work on my pull up more. I just have a lot of body control and I know how to finish a lot. Learning how to finish my free throws, I’ve been working on my free throws a lot.”
Coming from Richmond, it is a place with a lot of history and plenty of players have made it from the area over the years. Harvey is in line to have a chance to do the same thing. However, he knows that he needs to add to his game and expand on what already makes him an intriguing player.
This season, through 14 games, Harvey is putting up 24.7 points, 4.5 assists, and creating 3.3 steals per game. He’s already over 300 points on the season and will likely break 500, giving him a chance at 1,000 career points for his career. He’s shooting 53% from the field and 37% from three (27/73) while breaking the 30+ points barrier four times already this season.
