“More of a 3 point specialist,” said Owen, a native of Howard, County Maryland. “But when I get my shot going, people like to close out hard so then I get my dribble game going.”
Owen worked with a personal trainer over the summer to improve his ball-handling. Owen admittedly needs to be more careful with the ball on offense, citing that as an area he continues to work on.
“Not being too lazy w/the ball and getting loose and ppl reaching and stealing the ball from me.”
Fundamentals can be an overlooked part of Owen’s game, but he definitely gets high marks in that regard. An honors student who has a 3.8 GPA off the court, the 6’4 guard has a chance to emerge as a legitimate target for high academic division one programs.
“Boxing out on defense,” replied Owen when asked if he does anything on the court that most people won’t realize. “Because a lot of times people on the perimeter like to crash the boards, and that can be an issue.”
What can a coach interested in recruiting Owen expect him to bring to a college program?
“Lots of transition offense. Good team defense. 3 point shooting for sure, and a leader.”
