Markese Jacobs (Uplift – Kansas)
Jacobs has already made a verbal commitment to Kansas and is the #2 sophomore in Illinois. Plays with a lot of confidence. Jacobs is especially confident when his jumper is falling early. When he is hot he has deep range on his pull up three. Then he can go to work with his blow by speed off the dribble where he gets in the lane and finishes with his body control at the rim. Elite level athlete with bowling ball strength. Such an acrobatic guard at the rim. Jacobs also makes several sound decisions as a point guard.
Kejuan Clements (Simeon)
Clements is a super athletic 6’2” lead guard that uses his athleticism and quickness to full advantage. Clements is explosive off the bounce with the ball in his hands. Plays with a lot of flare. Perimeter jump shot is streaky at times, but he can get hot from three. Mostly a scoring point guard, but flashes ability as a distributor. With his toughness and athleticism he has potential on the defensive end of the floor. Should be looked at by mid-major programs.
Marquise Walker (St. Joe’s)
The 6’0” lead guard from St. Joseph’s is a quality ball handler that has the rock on a string. At times he can over dribble, but also makes defenders look silly in stretches. Walker gets to the hoop with power drives where he combines his strength to overpower defenders and slick ball handling. Good body control around the hoop to finish through traffic. A lot of his scoring is one on one off the bounce. Very ball dominant guard. Jump shot has definitely improved since last season. Passes it with flare in a high risk/high reward fashion. Right now he is a mid-major prospect.
Joseph Yesufu (Bolingbrook)
Yesufu isn’t the biggest point guard listed at only 5’8”, but he uses his speed to more than make up for it. The sophomore is lightning in a bottle going end to end with his jet quick speed. Pushes it while weaving in and out of the defense. Vision to find others, but he is athletic enough to finish at the cup with athleticism and body control. Tough on ball defender. Potential on jump shot. Mid-major to low-major prospect at this stage.
Dashon Enoch (OPRF)
Enoch is one of the more intriguing point guards in the class of 2019 with his combination of strength and athleticism. Strong build, but maintains his mobility. He is built like a pass catching running back. Enoch is crisp with the ball in his hands. Gets in the lane off the bounce with power. Jumper has a low release point, but he does get elevation off the floor. Defensively has lockdown potential. Flashed potential as a sophomore, but his team is led by the big boys inside that are seniors so he doesn’t get to showcase his full ability. Needs to be on D1 radar.
Jamir Price (Rock Island)
Price is a 6’0” 2019 combo guard from Rock Island that might not wow you with production quite yet, but there is no doubting the physical tools are all there. He has a good build with athleticism. Handles well in the open floor pushing it. Explosive first step. Flashes creativity as a passer. Potential D1 prospect.
Nolan Niego (Lyons)
The younger brother of Harrison and Connor plays with the same competitive fire and spirit of his older brothers. Nolan is a sound perimeter shooter that can knock them down with regularity especially spotting up. Good shooter off the dribble as well. You have to like how Niego runs his team and gets everyone involved. High IQ and makes crisp passes. Defensively he has the mindset to get up into his man and guard them hard. He has shown a lot of the same qualities that made us huge fans of Harrison.
Eric Cannon (Waubonsie Valley)
Cannon is a high IQ point guard that runs the show for his high school team. He is the guy that makes things go. Pushes it well in the open floor with quality speed. Stays low to the ground and weaves in and out of traffic. Gets others involved with his passing. As a scorer he can hit a jumper, but is streaky. Sneaky off the bounce. More of a distributor and a quality on ball defender.
Zach Touissant (Johnsburg)
Tremendous range pulling up from deep and drills them off the catch as well. Quick stroke with repeatable mechanics. One to watch especially if he grows taller than the 5’10” he is currently listed at.
Treye Tucker (Christian Life)
Tucker might only be 5’8”, but the kid has big time game. Unlimited range on his jump shot. He was a dominant scorer at the PrepHoops Top 250 Expo with his perimeter shooting and that has continued into a monster sophomore campaign. Lets it fly both off the catch and bounce. He is a major perimeter shooting threat, but there is more to his game. Excellent feel for the game at a young age. Plays with a quiet confidence about him. Flare for the dramatic and can be a bit flashy at times, but doesn’t turn it over much when we have seen him. Great handles getting in and out of traffic. Just a fun playmaker! Ultimately his level will probably be dependent on how much he grows.
