Illinois Class of 2018 Outlook
What are the strengths and weakness of the class of 2018 in the state of Illinois? We give you the low down in our class outlook here!
Strengths
Low-Major/D2 Prospects. While this class may lack superstars or high-major prospects the area that it is strong is at the low-major and D2 level. Programs at the those levels should be able to find solid values throughout the state at a variety of positions.
Low-Major Wings. The position that it is strongest at for low-major schools is the wing spot. There are a lot of shooting guard prospects with upside as scorers that project well toward the LM level. Also value can be found at the small forward position for these schools with several wings that might not jump off the court at you, but will be productive college basketball players.
Weaknesses
Depth of High Major Talent. Morgan Park’s Ayo Dosunmu, Champaign Central shooting guard Tim Finke, and Simeon’s Talen Horton-Tucker are the only sure fire high major prospects. There could be a couple emerge, but it will not be the number we are typically used too in the state of Illinois.
Sure Prospects At Post Positions. There are some potential prospects with upside at the post spots, but no sure things at this stage. The power forwards in the class are athletic prospects that are mostly undersized. From a center perspective there are several players with legit size, but are lacking athleticism or fluidity scoring in the post.
