Mark Smith (Edwardsville)
Smith has broke out as a senior. He came into the season as a quality mid-major prospect and now is getting a lot of high-major consideration across the Midwest. Smith is a strongly built 6’4” point guard that has improved his athleticism and consistently on the jump shot from three over the last several months. That has taken his game to new heights as he has jumped into the conversation for Mr. Basketball. Smith has a high IQ and knows how to get others involved as well as score it from all three levels. He rose from #20 to #9 in the new rankings.
Teyvion Kirk (Joliet West)
It wasn’t a big jump in the overall rankings from #14 to #12 for Kirk, but don’t get it wrong he has definitely elevated his recruiting stock over the last few months. Kirk had a monster performance at the Chicago Elite Classic against North Lawndale that put him on the map as a star in Chicago basketball. The rangy point guard has good size and length. Kirk can score from mid-range with a pull up and get to the rim off the bounce. Solid passer and tough on ball defender. With his decommitment from Drake Kirk is among the best uncommitted prospects in the state.
Jack Nolan (Benet)
Nolan put on a clinic at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament. We have always been fans of Nolan as a priority D3/NAIA prospect, but he made that even more of a certainty with his play. The Benet point guard can really light it up from deep with his perimeter shooting. Plus shooter off the catch that also moves well without the ball getting open. Nolan has improved his ball handling playing on the ball and works well around ball screens. He made the jump from #88 to #76.
Rico Sylvester (Belleville East)
Sylvester has quietly put together a solid senior campaign for Belleville East. He has the ability to shoot it off the catch from three. Has done a solid job of drawing defenders and kicking to shooters. Showed an improved feel for getting others involved as a senior. Moved from #112 to #103.
Neshawn Brooks (Peoria Manual)
Brooks has had to be the veteran go to player for a Manual squad that has been rocked with injuries to their top three players. The strong and stocky point guard from Manual has been a consistent presence all season with his ability to score from the mid-range with pull ups and get to the cup. Tough kid that will be a very good D3/NAIA player. He moved from #157 to #126.
