The 5-foot-11 guard has been the starter at the lead position since his 8th grade season for Dorman HS.
Myles Tate- PC: GO UpstateHe has helped The Cavaliers to a 14-5 record so far this seaosn and a number 1 ranking in the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association 5-A poll. Tate is a true point guard with a quick first-step, an ability to to draw the defense in the paint and either dish or score the basketball. Earlier in the season, Tate knocked down 8 three-pointers in a Dorman HS win over Westside HS including six straight in the first half while finishing with 24 points.
At Dorman, Tate is surrounded by talented teammates. Senior Zach Butler will play next season at Ohio University, big man Gabe Bryant and Tae Cannon who will play next season at Catawba.
His summer coach from last season, Anthony Randolph of Team Loaded 704 2020 had this to say about the freshman, “Myles is a 6′ combo guard that started some games for Dorman High School’s varsity last year as an 8th grader. He’s been taught to play the game the right way from a young age. He’s an excellent passer and ball handler and can score on all three levels offensively and he can defend his position on the defensive end of the court. Earlier this season, he made 8 out of 10 three pointers in a game and he’s played a major role for their highly ranked varsity again this year. He’s smooth as silk with the ball in his hands and can change directions on a dime and separate from defenders. He also an excellent student in the classroom.”
