Derek Richards 5’9″ Louisiana (2019): The small combo guard can really scored the basketball and shown by his 25-point performance in the semifinals victory over Wellsville. Richards was primarily a 3-point shooter as a freshman, but he has really improved his ability to attack the rim off the dribble, which makes him an even tougher person to guard. Both were on display on Thursday night.
CE Talton 6’1″ Monroe City (2019): A talented point guard with good size, Talton scored a game-high 22 points in the Panthers’ loss to Clopton in the semifinals. Talton handles himself with a lot of poise for a young player with his nice handles and passing ability. He can get to the basket and score on short jumpers and twisting drives. He also displayed some long-range shooting ability. He has plenty of up-side.
Stephen Talbert 6’2″ Clopton (2017): This solid forward came up big time after time in the Hawks upset of Monroe City in the semifinals. Not only did he score a team-high 20 points, he came up with some big offensive rebounds loose balls in the fourth quarter when the game was in the balance. He shot the ball from the mid-post, scored around the basket and knocked down a couple of 3-pointers.
Landon Hall 6’1″ Clopton (2018): A versatile guard who made a lot happen for the Hawks in the victory over Monroe City. He scored 15 points, including a big game-tying 3-pointer late in the game. Hall handles the ball well and he is also a tremendous passer with excellent court vision. He really makes his teammates better as well as his own ability to get buckets.
Seth Oliver 5’9″ Wellsville-Middletown (2017): A tough little guard who scored 18 points in the Tigers loss to Louisiana in the semifinals. Oliver showed some nice shooting range as he knocked down four 3-pointers. He can also get in the lane and create some problems for opposing defenses.
Jacob Ussery 6’0″ Wellsville-Middletown (2017): The veteran wing player scored 15 points against Louisiana in the semifinals. He was very aggressive at attacking the basket and seeking the contact. He finished well and got himself to the free throw line. Ussery also knocked down a couple of 3-pointers off the catch.
