Wyatt Yess 6’8″ Parkway West (2017): The 6’8″ Yale commit scored a game-high 20 points in a double overtime loss to rival Parkway South. Yess also scored his 1,500th career point. Yess has so many positive things about his game, but the most is his unselfishness. He makes his teammates around him better. He is tough in the post and he can also step out and knock down 15 footers. Yess also hit a nasty step-back 3-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation to put the game into overtime.
Adam Flinn 6’0″ Lafayette (2017): Flinn was tremendous in leading the Lancers to their first-round victory over DeSmet. He scored a game-high 25 points, with many coming on nifty drives to basket. He really knows how to get to the basket and finish in a variety of ways and angles. Flinn uses the glass well and he has a nice float game. DeSmet could not keep him out of the lane. He also made his free throws.
Evan White 6’2″ Hazelwood Central (2017): A strong wing player who enjoyed a big performance in the Hawks 62-47 victory over Liberty. In the absence of injured top scorer Shaun Williams, White stepped up and scored a game-high 20 points. His high motor and activity enabled him to make plays from just about anywhere on the court. He scored on cuts to the basket, good drives, offensive rebounds and short jumpers.
Ryan Stipanovich 6’7″ DeSmet (2017): The versatile combo forward scored a game-high 23 points in the Spartans loss to Lafayette. With future head coach Brian Wardle of Bradley looking on, Stipanovich showcases his various talents as he knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, scored in the post and also displayed a nice mid-range game.
Telly Wright 5’8″ Hazelwood Central (2018): The diminutive point guard was one of the top shooters on display during the first round action. Wright scored 18 points in the Hawks win over Liberty, including four 3-pointers. He has excellent range on his high-arching shots from long distance. Wright also has excellent quickness.
Connor McArthy 6’0″ Parkway South (2017): McArthy enjoyed another solid performance in leading the Patriots to a double-overtime victory over district rival Parkway West. McArthy is a good 3-point shooter, but he did an excellent job of getting to the basket and getting buckets in this game. He is always under control.
Jaylen Sims 6’0″ Liberty (2018): An athletic combo guard who scored 12 points in a loss to Hazelwood Central. He is thin, but he’s athletic and has a nice pull up jumper in which he gets excellent elevation. Sims also showcased some long-range shooting ability by knocking down a pair of 3-pointers.
A.J. Sommer 6’5″ Parkway South (2018): The versatile combo forward scored eight points while playing a variety of positions for South. He handles the ball quite a bit and he also had the task of guarding Wyatt Yess of West, in which he did a fine job.
Kory Brubaker 6’2″ Lafayette (2017): The solid shooting guard scored 16 points in the Lancers’ victory over DeSmet. Brubaker did a nice job of shooting the ball from the mid-range. He has a little step-back move that was very effective from 17 feet. He plays with a high motor on both ends of the court.
