Childers is ranked #80 in the Prep Hoops top 80. Childers scored a game-high 24 points with four steals and three rebounds in the 77-59 win over Northwestern. The win improves the Indians to 14-3 and dropped the Trojans to 8-6.
Play of the Game: Bradley Childers 5-0 run
Childers scored five points in a row in a 45 second span with 2:00 left in the second quarter to break a 41-41 tie in the game. The Trojans tied the game but didn’t get any closer in the game after the run by Childers.

Childers scored 21 of his 24 points in the first half of the game.
Best Defensive Performance: SaDarius Bowser-Gaffney_2018
Bowser is ranked #61 in the Prep Hoops top 80 class of 2018. Bowser had seven rebounds and six blocks in the game for the Indians. Bowser controls the paint in the second half with his blocks on the Trojans defender.
Best Guy off the Bench: Tay Kershaw-Gaffney-2017
Kershaw came off the bench to score eight points for the Indians. Kershaw played hard defense on his man and created three steals.
Intangibles: Northwestern Bench
Northwestern subbed a player in after every dead ball play in the first half. The Trojans did that so they could keep the pressure on the Indians in the first half. The bench was a key part of the Trojans staying close in the first half.
Best Underclassmen: Zay Martin-Northwestern-2019
Martin is a 6’1 SF and SG for the Trojans. Martin shoots the three and has good mid-range game. Martin plays hard defense on his man, which will lead to turnovers. Martin is a leader on a veteran Northwestern team.
Best Under the Radar: Myliek Durham-Northwestern-2017
Durham is a 6’1 guard for the Trojans. Durham can shoot the three balls and will block out a defender trying to get the rebound. Durham plays hard defense on the ball handler creating turnovers. Durham is the star for the Trojans.
Best Project: Nick Agapion-Gaffney-2018
Agapion is a 6’0 wing player. Agapion can shot the three and play defense hard. Agapion needs to work on his ball handling skills through traffic. Agapion will be dependable when he comes off the bench to help the Indians. Agapion will be a delight to watch for the rest of the season and next year at Gaffney.
Takeaway: Gaffney is one of the top teams in Class 5A. The Indians beat top-ranked Dorman 77-73 in a double overtime game on Tuesday night. The Indians will make a solid run in the playoffs this year. Northwestern is a veteran group that will also be fun to watch the rest of the season and playoffs. The Trojans play hard nose defense and will give a team fits.
