Marks came up big all game for the Bears. The Bears defeated the undefeated Swamp Foxes in region play 71-62. Marks finished the game with 15 points after hitting clutch after clutch shots all game long.
Play of the Game : Dijon Goss – Carvers Bay (2018)
Goss was fouled with 39.1 seconds left with in the 3rd quarter with the game tied at 46-46. Goss converted on the three point lead and the Bears never looked back at 49-46. Goss finished with just 5 points today but three of them came at a very critical time in the game.
Best Offensive Performance : Jaquan Felton – Marion (2017)
Felton was impressive today for the Swamp Foxes. Felton finished at the rim attacking the basket. Felton is a unsigned senior and finished the game with 24 points.
Best Defensive Performance : Yaquan Genwright – Marion (2017)
Genwright a undersized post player came up big with rebounds on both ends of the floor for the Swamp Foxes. Genwright finished the game with 14 points and 8 rebounds.
Best Intangibles : Ryan Carfley – Marion (2018)
Carfley a 6’9 post player came over to Marion from nearby Creek Bridge HS where he played last season. Carfley has improved his game every time I seen him play in the past year. Carfley plays AAU ball with the Carolina Stampede.
Best Guy off the Bench : Andre Marks – Carvers Bay (2018)
Marks came off the bench for the Bears and hit time after time crucial shots in the game. Marks a 6’0 guard led the Bears with 15 points.
Best Under the Radar Performance : Stephon Green – Carvers Bay (2019)
Green finished with 10 points for the Bears. Green was in the middle of the action all game long on the offensive glass.
Best Underclassmen : Ryan Carfley – Marion (2018)
Carfley best basketball is still in front of him. Carfley is a decent athlete and can move well on the floor. Carfley can step-out to 15 feet and knockdown shots.
Best Project to Watch : Tariq Nowlin – Marion (2019)
Nowlin came in late in the third quarter and showed some good glimpses. Nowlin is a wiry guard who really had no problem breaking the Bears defense. Nowlin has great length and defended the passing lanes very well.
Best Takeaway :
The Marion Swamp Foxes lead the region with a 6-1 record. The Carvers Bay Bears are now 5-2 in region play.
