Garey a point guard from Gaithersburg, MD was big all day long getting to the basket for Hargrave. Garey led a 17 point deficit in the first half to a come from behind win for Hargrave. Garey finishedwith 24 points in the 79-72 victory over Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach.
Play of the Game : DJ Myers – Hargrave Military HS (2018)
Myers capped off five straight points with a dunk at 40.8 seconds that just took the air out of the Saints. Hargrave led at that time 72-68.
Best Offensive Performance : Bryce Schneider – Christian Academy of MB (2017)
Schneider a Richmond signee was very consistent all day today. Schneider scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the while dishing out 5 assists.
Best Defensive Performance : David Garey – Hargrave Military HS (2017)
Garey was a pest all day on the floor. Garey is a really solid on the ball defender and gutsy.
Best Intangibles : Samuel Woods – Christian Academy of MB (2018)
Woods a left-handed combo forward really showed some glimpses today of what type of player he could be down the road. Woods a transfer from Waccamaw HS in nearby Pawley’s Island, SC only played 1 game as a sophomore. Woods has is best basketball still in front of him.
Best Guy off the Bench : David Garey – Hargrave Military HS (2017)
Garey came off the bench for the Tigers today. Garey determination and grit led the Tigers to the victory today.
Best Under the Radar Performance : Justin Busby – Christian Academy of MB (2017)
Busby a combo guard is best suited off the ball. Busby scored 21 points today and started out like a house on fire with 15 points on 5 three pointers at halftime. Busby ran AAU this past summer with Manzer. Busby possesses a quick shot release. Still remains very open in his recruitment.
Best Underclassmen : Mike Green – Christian Academy of MB (2019)
Green a fixture here for the Saints the past 3 years is a left-handed shooting guard. Green has already eclipsed the 1,000 points plateau at the school.
Best Project to Watch : Davis Guyton – Christian Academy of MB (2019)
Guyton is the last of three brothers to come trough Christian Academy of MB. Guyton really likes to play face-up and has a great touch for a 6’5 kid.
Best Takeaway :
The Saints fall to 9-10 on the season, The record doesn’t show what kind of competition they have played. The Saints will make a strong run to the SCISA State Tourney next month in Sumter, SC and don’t be surprised if there are playing Spartanburg Day School on that other side of the bracket.
