MVP: Tevaughn Huggins –Lower Richland – 2018
Tevaughn Huggins scored a game-high 19 points. With his quick step and move to glass, and also several his points were from the mid-range. Huggins is also the quarterback for the Diamond Hornets
Play of the game: Cardinal Newman went on a 12-0 run that included Brandon Pirie hitting a three-pointer from the corner to tie the game at 52-52 with 53.4 seconds left in the game.
Best Offensive Performance: Tevaughn Huggins- Lower Richland- 2018
Huggins was also 9 for 14 shooting from the floor.
Best Defensive Performance: Clyde Trapp, Jr. – Lower Richland – 2017
Clyde Trapp, Jr. a Clemson University commit had 11 rebounds with nine of them coming on the defense side of the floor. Trapp, Jr. was a monster on the glass and always in the shooters face.
Best Intangible: Ja’Cor Nelson – Lower Richland – 2017
Ja’Cor Nelson a Campbell University commit scored 16 points, three assists, and four steals for Lower Richland. Nelson is a 6’3 guard that possesses a high level athleticism and a quick first step, and also gets his share of the rebounds from his misses.
Best guy off the bench: Shane O’Connor -Cardinal Newman- 2018
Shane O’Connor scored eight points off the bench including going 2/3 from the three point’s line. O’Connor plays hard defense, always diving for loose balls , and challenging his man up the floor. Shane will also draw the charge from the defender in the paint.
Best under the radar player: Joshua Beadle -Cardinal Newman- 2021
Joshua Beadle is 6’1 that is a high energy guard that has court awareness and athleticism to make plays on the floor. Beadle will be a star in the future for the Cardinals.
Best Underclassman: Chico Carter, Jr. – Cardinal Newman- 2019
Chico scored 12 points on 6/11 from the field. Carter Jr. also was 2/3 from the free throw line. Sophomore runs the teams and creates scoring chances for himself. Ca will attack the basket.
Best Project to Watch: Patrick Reedy – Cardinal Newman- 2018
Patrick Reedy is a 6’6 power forward for Cardinal Newman. Reedy has big body and will be a good on the boards and be a good shot blocker in the future game for the Cardinals.
Best takeaway: Lower Richland made the plays down the stretch to win the game in overtime. Cardinal Newman is a hard nose team that will never give up.
