Considered a top player in Illinois, Talen Horton-Tucker didn’t disappoint, showcasing his versatility during a ver solid all-around performance in his team’s win. Horton-Tucker recorded 21 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 6 steals.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | TALEN HORTON-TUCKER | SIMEON ’18
THT is a flat out mis-match problem at 6’5. The skilled, strong wing is very crafty around the basket and has excellent touch from anywhere on the floor.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | TALEN HORTON-TUCKER | SIMEON ’18
One thing that was very impressive about THT was how well he anticipates defensively. He was all over the passing lanes, swiping five of his game-high six steals in the first half.
BEST UNDER-THE-RADAR PERFORMANCE | DRE PERRY | POLY ’18
Dre Perry did everything he could to keep his team in this game. The Temple commit exploded for 8 points and a block in the final minute.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | RAHIM ALI | POLY ’20
You won’t find many freshmen with the competitiveness and poise of Rahim Ali. Ali was un-phased against a top 10 team in the country. He led his team with 21 points.
BEST CATCH AND SHOOT GUY | MARQUIS BROWN | SIMEON ’18
Marquis Brown shot the ball exceptionally well from the perimeter, hitting three 3’s on his way to 16 points. Brown works well off the ball and has a quick release.
BEST RIM PROTECTOR | MESSIAH JONES | SIMEON ’18
Not a lot of people have the strength, athleticism, or confidence to challenge Dre Perry at the rim, but that’s exactly what Messiah Jones did. Jones sent one of Perry’s transition layup attempts out of bounds.
BEST PASSER | TALEN HORTON-TUCKER | SIMEON ’18
THT is super smooth with the ball in his hands. He completed some highlight worthy passes, but also often made the correct pass.
BEST INTANGIBLES | EVAN GILYARD | SIMEON ’17
Gilyard recorded 12 points and 5 assistsUTEP is getting a good one in Evan Gilyard. The super crafty, tough lead guard hit several clutch free throws to help his team clinch a close win.
