Leading scorers: Northview: Brigham Booe 18, Drew Lumsden 16, Dylan Hyatt 10. Tri-West: Peyton Hendershot 17, Tyler Watson 15, Matthew Chinn 13.
Leading rebounders: Northview: Jensen Kellett 8, Brigham Booe 6. Tri-West: Peyton Hendershot 9, Jake Hill 8.
MVP: Brigham Booe (Northview)
Booe kept Northview in the game as they were falling behind, he stepped up and started making shots. He drained four long balls in the game as it was slipping away and kept them in it. Made a few really nice catch-and-shoot shots as well in the game. He’s a good player and one of the best in the conference.
Best offensive performance: Peyton Hendershot (Tri-West)
Hendershot was all over the paint for Northview in this one. He muscled his way to the basket and finished well as well as had four assists. He saw the floor very well and has a couple nice moves in the paint, including a really quick nice spin move.
Best defensive performance: Matthew Wilson (Tri-West)
Wilson was on fire while guarding Booe. While Wilson was guarding him he only made one bucket, but once he was switched off on screens, Booe heated up. Wilson is really active and had four steals which stems from him being really quick. One of the best defenders in the state just because he is so active and in your face.
Play of the Game: Peyton Hendershot makes the game winner
After being fouled with 1.7 seconds left, Hendershot stepped up to the line and drained 1-of-2 free throws to give his team the win.
Best under-the-radar performance: Braydon Tucker (Northview)\
Tucker gave Northview some really quality minutes he scored eight points and he certainly made a difference. He’s a strong kid with a ton of grit and when Northview was in foul trouble he stepped up for them of the defensive end.
Best passer: Matthew Wilson (Northview)
Wilson handled the ball a lot in the game and he performed well in that role. He had four assists and did not get in trouble at all. Good handling of the ball and he could stick at the point if he wanted to in college with a little work.
Best shooter: Tyler Watson (Tri-West)
Watson can really shoot the ball and we saw that tonight. He scored 15 points and he did so at all three levels. Scored really well in the midrange and looked good at the free throw line. He also had four assists.
Best intangibles: Drew Lumsden (Northview)
Lumsden was solid as the inside guy for Northview. He scored 16 points and never stopped motoring along. He could be going to play in college and has a nice body that should stick there in the post.
Best rebounder: Jensen Kellett (Northview)
Being a 6’8 wing player he really rebounds the ball well. He crashes from the perimeter and gets most of the boards since he is just so much taller than everyone else on the court. He could use a little more weight but it should come in college.
Best takeaway: Both teams are really good and can fight through adversity. Tri-West has a little bit more potent of an offense but they are good being all football players mostly as well. Northview has more size than most teams in the state and that will help them out immensely this year.
