Leading rebounders: Armaan Franklin 11 (Fishers), Corby Merlens 8 (Noblesville), Sasha Stefanovich 7 (Crown Point), Jake Wadding 7 (Chesterton)
MVP:
Sasha Stefanovic (Crown Point)
The MM+ guard played really well after a slow start. He ended the game with 26 points on 8/16 shooting. He drained a corner three at the end of the half and shot 4/9 from behind the arc. He was very solid on both ends of the floor and helped lead his team to the victory.
Best offensive performance:
Jonathan Foster (Columbus East)
Foster played really well on the offensive end of the floor taking great shots and not being careless with the ball. He scored 20 points in the first game on just 10 shots including hitting all three from behind the arc.
Best defensive performance:
Chaz Painter (Columbus East)
Painter really held down the paint today. He had a couple blocks in each game and in the second game really crashed the defensive boards hard. He created transition points with his defense and was a big reason that they won the second game of the day.
Best off-the-bench performance:
Brandon Vernon (Pike)
Vernon came off the bench and was solid leading his team in points with 15. He knocked down a few long balls and looked really active on the offensive end. He played good defense as well sprinkling a few blocks in as well.
Best under-the-radar performance:
Armaan Franklin (Fishers)
Franklin was purely solid today. He grabbed 11 boards to lead all players on the day and a few were put backs for points. He really helped out his team by being in the right place at the right time and he was rewarded at the end of the day by an offer from IUPUI.
Best facilitator:
McGuire Plumer (Noblesville)
Plumer got moved off the ball today for a little bit but still managed to put up a six assists which is about the norm for him. A pure point guard he knows where his teammates are going to be and how to get them the ball.
Best shooter:
Sasha Stefanovich (Crown Point)
One of the state’s best shooters has to be given this right? Stefanovich struggled a bit but still managed to put up 26 points. He was money in the second half and helped Crown Point to the win.
Best rebounder:
Corby Merlens (Noblesville)
Merlens rebounded really well for his size. A 6’3 guard who is not that athletic but knows how to get himself into position to make the board. He played really well on both ends of the floor.
Best freshman:
Jake Wadding (Chesterton)
Wadding was spectacular. He starts for Chesterton and made play after play on the ball. He was an animal and at the wing spot he really likes to drive the ball and make plays but will also pass it out if there is traffic. A very smart two games by Wadding.
Best buzzer beater:
Sasha Stefanovic (Crown Point)
