Now sophomore, John–Michael Mulloy got quite a few minutes on Varsity for Carmel last season. Now, he is really starting to blossom early in the season and has the confidence working for him.
Carmel is off to a great 3-0 start with wins over Zionsville, Pendleton Heights, and Lawrence Central. They have another big one tonight as they take on Noblesville and likely to have an influence in the game is the 6’10 power forward John–Michael Mulloy. In the first three games of the season, he is averaging 8.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and has 7 steals on the season.
Mulloy is a true talent in the post as he’s added the strength this season to be able to complete some of the tough plays through contact but it is the mobility and athleticism that really seperates him from the pack. He’s one of the top sophomores in the state and is already racking up plenty of recruiting interest.
Eastern Illinois has already offered and teams like Southern Illinois, Western Illinois, Butler, Purdue, Indiana, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Xavier are keeping in touch with the 6’10 forward. This past Sunday, Mulloy was able to check in on campus at Notre Dame and get a look at what the Irish had to offer.
“It was great was able to look around campus before hand and was great watching them,” Mulloy siad. “They played really well hitting 19 3’s and 29 assist. Was really cool after I was able to meet all the players and talked to the head coach briefly before he had to go talk to the media was then told they want to have me back later in the coming months when weather is better and able to look around campus even more.”
He’s also already been to Indiana earlier this year and is planning to make a return trip sometime this season as well as trips to Xavier, Butler, and Purdue.
