A long, athletic 6’6 wing player, Mosley can play inside or out, and showed off his all-around game during Saturday’s Ozark Mountain Shootout in Springfield against Booker T. Washington of Tulsa. Mosley had 10 points and seven rebounds, but his impact in the game went far beyond the numbers. He was active around the basket, showed the ability to handle the ball, and even made a 3, showcasing his range.
“I would describe my game as a great all around player,” Mosley said. “I can dribble, shoot, get my teammates open, and I take a lot of pride in crashing the glass so I feel like I have a pretty solid game all around.”
Mosley competed this past summer with MoKan Elite 15U and said the experience helped take his game to another level. He competed alongside fellow Rock Bridge 2019 teammates Ben Cooper and Dajuan Harris.
“The things that the program has taught me and things that I have worked on over the summer is running the floor better, crashing the boards, and trying to be a little better on the defensive end,” Mosley said.
Already Mosley has started to draw the eye of college programs. He took an unofficial visit to Kansas State, and says Nebraska has been on him pretty hard during the fall.
Armed with a deep senior class and one of the state’s premier 2019 classes, Rock Bridge has high expectations for the 2016-17 season despite a hard fought loss to Booker T. Washington on Saturday. The team is now 3-3 playing a brutal schedule. After winning the Troy tournament, the Bruins have dropped games to CBC and Miller Career.
“This season I have high expectations for school ball,” Mosley said. “I am hoping we can compete in all of our games and win districts. We have started off pretty slow this year all together, but I think we can get it going and hopefully get hot at the right time.”
Mosley said he patterns his game after LeBron James, Brandon Ingram and Kevin Durant and tries to take different things from each of them,
“(They) are the guys I study and watch play a lot,” he said. I try to finish well around the rim just like LeBron does and try to be a leader for my team like him. I watch a lot of Lakers games because of Brandon Ingram. He scores the ball well so I try to pick at his game a little bit and do the things that he does well that I struggle with. Durant is a pure scorer who can shoot from anywhere on the court so he is someone I enjoy watching.”
While he looks up to LeBron James, Durant and others on the court, Mosley said it is his mother who has been the biggest influence in his basketball career.
“My mom has been a huge influence on my basketball career and just my life in general,” he said. “She was a high major recruit in high school so she has been through the whole recruiting process before so to have someone who has already experienced that is a huge help. She also is always the first one after the game to give me advice on what I could do better to help my team and to become stronger as a player.”
