Continue ReadingKANSAS CITY — One of the state’s premier unsigned players, Bishop Miege 2017 forward Francesco Badocchi is off to a strong start to his senior season and is drawing interest from a wide range of colleges.
Currently ranked No. 16 in the PrepHoops.com Class of 2017 Kansas state rankings, Badocchi brings a European style of basketball to Kansas. A native of Italy, Badocchi is a skilled forward capable of playing in the post or on the wing. He can do all things the you expect to see a skilled European played do — pass, shoot and handle the ball.
But he has also become known for his above the rim play.
A fan of European basketball, especially point guard Milos Teodosic, Badocchi says his game has been heavily influenced by their play and hopes it is something new he can bring to the American game.
Despite undergoing an operation during the summer that kept him sidelines, Badocchi says Emporia State has offered him a full scholarship and several Division I schools have also shown interest, including Florida Gulf Coast, UMKC and Denver.
First however, is a senior season that is full of promise. Bishop Miege is a loaded team that features talent and depth,.
“Oour team till this point has been playing very well, as a group we are able to bond in and out of the court making our style of play very fluid,” Badocchi said. “Individually I think I bring all around stats and contribute by scoring and a good defense.”
He says the team he looks forward to playing most this season is a rematch against Blue Valley Northwest.
“They are probably the best team we have faced this and last year,” Badocchi said.
