After going 11-16 last season, the Vikings have opened the 2016-17 season 5-2 with its only losses coming to Republic and DeSmet.
Brown has showcased an all-around game, averaging 17 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game. He is shooting 54 percent from the field, 95 percent from the free throw line and 60 percent from 3-point range, opening the season 15 for 25 from deep.
Despite the numbers, Brown says he takes pride in leading his team and directing traffic.
“I am more of a floor general,” he said. “I have to get everybody where they need to be and in the spots they need to be in and lead my team to victory.”
Brown spent the offseason playing with the Missouri Flight and said he focused on improving his left hand.
“I am right hand dominant, so I needed to work on my left and improve my chemistry with my teammates,” Brown said. “(Playing with the Flight) had better competition and more athletes, stronger athletes. It helped me work on my game.”
Brown said he is looking forward to playing Kickapoo and Xavier recruit Jared Ridder.
“He is just a great athlete and challenges me to be better and I challenge him too,” Brown said.
Although he currently does not hold any offers and has heard from Southwest Baptist University.
