MVP | COLE ANTHONY | MOLLOY ’19
Cole Anthony played a phenomenal floor game despite not shooting particularly well from the field. At 6’2, Anthony is an excellent rebounder from his position with tremendous explosiveness and playmaking ability. The electric sophomore floor general flirted with a triple-double and hit 13 of his 14 foul shot attempts.
BEST PLAY | ROSS YOUNG | SIDWELL ’17
Ross Young had perhaps the most exciting sequence of the day in the night cap. The athletic and energetic 6’6 forward dunked it on a defender in traffic, and then raced back to pin an opponent’s shot off the glass. These types of plays have been a signature of Young’s game.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | PRENTISS HUBB | GONZAGA ’18
The word most often used to describe Prentiss Hubb is “smooth”. There simply is no other way to describe the lefty. Hubb led the Eagles in scoring while showcasing his expansive offensive arsenal.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | CRAIG BEAUDION | WHITNEY YOUNG ’17
If you’re looking for a big, physical wing who competes hard and can defend multiple positions, you might want to take a look at unsigned senior Craig Beaudion. The strong, 6-foot-4 Illinois native was an absolute dog defensively where he denied his man and used his length to suffocate and disrupt opposing ball-handlers.
BEST UNDER-THE-RADAR PERFORMANCE | EVERETTE HAMMOND | PALLOTTI ’18
Considered one of the best available guard prospects in the DMV, Everette Hammond had some nice moments for Pallotti, especially in the second half. Hammond showed craftiness around the basket and strength when finishing through contact to go along with good range on his jumper.
BEST GUY OFF THE BENCH | JAVON FREEMAN | WHITNEY YOUNG ’18
Javon Freeman scored 22 points off the bench to lead Whitney Young. The long-limbed 6’3 guard can really elevate and finish as he was the primary option for Whitney Young’s backdoor lob actions. Freeman exhibited a nice touch around the basket and an incredible work rate.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | TERRANCE WILLIAMS | GONZAGA ’20
There were some very good performances from underclassmen on day one, but arguably none more impressive than that of Terrance Williams. The well-built 6’6 forward was an absolute workhorse on the boards. Williams also showed patience and craftiness around the rim.
BEST INTANGIBLES | LUCAS WILLIAMSON | WHITNEY YOUNG ’17
Lucas Williamson sets the tone for this very deep and talented Whitney Young team. The hard-working senior is super versatile. We saw that on both ends of the floor, where he guards 1 through 3, scores from three levels, and facilitates offense.
BEST REBOUNDER | MOSES BROWN | MOLLOY ’19
Moses Brown is a legitimate 7 footer with incredible command of his body. Brown had good box out technique defensively and showed soft hands and good timing when crashing the offensive boards. The junior big man recorded a team-high 15 rebounds.
BEST CATCH AND SHOOT GUY | SADDIQ BEY | SIDWELL ’18
At 6’6, Saddiq Bey has the confidence and talent to get his shot off against almost any defender. On Friday night, we saw Bey’s ability to move off the ball and convert quick points from the catch. The intriguing wing is really coming into his own this season.
