Ken Decker – 6’4/SF/2017 – Crown Point – Decker has really done well becoming a little more lean and that has helped his mobility a ton. He’s done well working to create off the bounce and put some moves together. Can sidestep and dribble into the mid-range and get a shot off decently well right now. Still, he’s a little undersized but you feel more comfortable as him as a wing that you did during the summer. High-end shooter that can get a shot off pretty quick.
Dominic Tomich – 5’10/PG/2017 – Crown Point – This was the best game we have seen from Tomich. He was as aggressive as he has ever been and he not only gave us his rebounding and passing but some scoring. He’s never really been a scorer but he showed that a bit in this one. He was really creative around the rim using an up-and-under and then he was hitting some threes as well. If Tomich is going to add in some offense, that would be a good sign. Really solid lead guard and can facilitate and get a team going.
Josh Hall – 6’6/PF/2017 – Bloomington South – Hall has finally healed and lost the weight he put on and now looks like an instant impact guy for DePauw. He’s a lot more aggressive and athletic and that combination made him a pain for Columbus East to defend. He was able to finish some really creative plays down low, maneuvering his body to get the shot off and still making them. He looked hungry to play and to score and it was a sight to see. Finished with about 21 and 5 for the game.
Austin Peterson – 6’6/C/2017 – Chesterton – Peterson is a big load in the post. He’s not really fast or even quick in small spaces but highly effective and will move anyone out of his way in the post where he can score in a variety of ways. He’s got a decent little hook but really loves to carve out space with his body and finish facing the backboard. Then, you can see him step out and become a deep range threat. He’s really a good three point shooter with tons of range, knocked down a volleyball line shot in the game.
Ethan Mitchell – 6’7/PF/2017 – Columbus North – Mitchell is a lean forward who is pretty solid on the low block. Not a fancy scorer but functional when he gets touches. Did well early against true size in Austin Peterson of Chesterton and really showed how agile he was. Decent athlete with the ability to play faced up but not going to run down the lane and dunk. He’s got a solid jumper and he’s shown that he can hit it in the mid-range and beyond. With his size and frame, he would be a really productive player really quickly for a small school program.
Isiah James – 6’6/PF/2017 – Indianapolis Pike – James is really being active in this game. His size and ability now to play away from the basket and on the perimeter has allowed him to become so much better. He’s creating steals on the wing and able to switch on some guards now. On offense, he’s really attacking more in transition and shooting more from three. He’s not overshooting but slowly adding it into his game. Really like his path now that he’s shown more versatility.
