The 1A/2A Cascade Conference is one of the most talented conferences in the state, partly due to the 2016 1A State Champion being in it. From top to bottom there is talent all around, and many teams are bringing back players from 2016 to shape up an interesting and entertaining 2017 season.
8. Lakewood Cougars
The Cougars struggled within the Cascade Conference last season and didn’t win a conference game. This season they hope to improve on that record with the return of senior combo guard, Justin Gustafson and senior point guard Taylor Tresch.
- Granite Falls Tigers
After finishing 5-17 overall and 5-9 in the conference, Granite Falls returns six players from last years roster to help their chances in the Cascade Conference. A couple key players of those six returners will be 6-0 senior shooting guard, Ben Schneiders and 6-1 senior forward Jordan Vanbeek.
- South Whidbey Falcons
The Falcons are returning five players from last season after going 9-11 overall and 5-9 in the conference. Two key returners will be the quick 5-4 senior shooting guard, Matthew Milano and 6-2 senior forward, Maxfield Friedman.
- Sultan Turks
The Turks are looking to finish over .500 in the conference this season after finishing two games below last season at 6-8. A piece to that puzzle returning will be 6-3 junior forward, Justus Headrick who averaged six points and five rebounds per game.
- Cedar Park Christian Eagles
The Eagles return numerous key players to a squad that went 7-7 in the conference last season. A big piece to the puzzle will be 6-3 junior George Reidy who averaged nine points, and two steals per game out of the backcourt last season.
- Cedarcrest Red Wolves
The Red Wolves finished 8-6 in conference last season and return one of the best players in the conference in 6-2 senior guard Jake Kirschenmann. He averaged 15 points, eight rebounds and two steals per game last season. He’ll look to lead the Red Wolves to a top three finish in the conference.
- Archbishop Murphy Wildcats
The Wildcats finished 11-3 in conference last year and will look to finish at the top of the conference once again this season with some key players returning. A couple pieces of the puzzle that will lead the Wildcats will be 6-0 junior guard Kyler Gordon, 5-10 senior guard Anfernee Gurley and 6-10 senior center John Master.
- King’s Knights
The Knights are coming off a magical season, where they won the state championship and finished 14-0 in the conference. They come into this season as one of the best teams again and have one of the best players in the state, Corey Kispert, a 6-7 senior swingman who averaged 22 points per game last season who is a current Gonzaga Bulldogs commit. The Kings will look to add another piece of hardware to their trophy case this season.
