MVP | AYINDE HIKIM | WILSON ’18
Ayinde Hikim is the engine for the Tigers, and we saw that on both ends of the floor on Monday night. The explosive and crafty lead guard was all over the place. Competing at a high level, defending, and creating consistent looks for himself and others.
BEST PLAY | AYINDE HIKIM | WILSON ’18
Hikim had so many memorable plays in this one. His suffocating defense lead to quick points on the other end for his team. These plays were certainly the best as they had the biggest impact.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | AYINDE HIKIM | WILSON ’18
Hikim recorded a game-high 25 points. He showcased incredible body control and absorbed contact on his ambidextrous finishes at the basket. Hikim also dished out a game-high 6 assists.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | AYINDE HIKIM | WILSON ’18
Hikim spearheaded an aggressive defense. The junior lead guard swiped five steals and recorded numerous deflections as well. He dove on the floor for loose balls. Whatever it took to get the win.
BEST REBOUNDER | RICKY LINDO | WILSON ’18
6’7 junior Ricky Lindo is one to watch this season. The athletic and mobile wing secured 11 boards for the Tigers and showed the ability to put the ball on the floor and initiate the break.
BEST GUY OFF THE BENCH | TERVONDRE WILLIAMS | MCKINLEY TECH ’19
Sophomore guard Tervondre Williams came in and provided a nice spark off the bench for the Trainers. Williams defended with tenacity and was able to handle pressure and initiate offense.
BEST UNDER-THE-RADAR-PERFORMANCE | JOACQUIN GONZALEZ | MCKINLEY TECH ’17
Joacquin Gonzalez is worth a look for division three programs who need a scorer. The 6’1 wing showed an exceptional touch from mid range and strong activity on the boards.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | WOODY NEWTON | MCKINLEY TECH ’20
Freshman Woody Newton recorded 19 points, 6 boards, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. One thing that stood out about his play tonight was his effort. Newton went hard on every play, and didn’t stop until the final buzzer. Expect this young man to emerge among the most coveted recruits in his class.
BEST INTANGIBLES | AYINDE HIKIM | WILSON ’18
Hikim is a smart point guard who understands the game at a high level. His passion and aggression evidently rubs off on his teammates.
BEST CATCH AND SHOOT GUY | CARLOS DUNN | WILSON ’19
Carlos Dunn is a flat out sharpshooter. The sophomore guard demonstrated a quick release and confidence on his jumper.
