6’8 junior Cam Timmons made an early statement on both ends of the floor. Timmons was very active defensively and extremely good at using his size to seal off opponents in the low post.
BEST PLAY | HUNTER AUCH | BRIAR WOODS ’19
Hunter Auch calmly sank 7 of 8 free throws down the stretch to help Briar Woods clinch this game. The sophomore is a lights out shooter.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | BRYCE DOUGLAS | CENTREVILLE ’19
Bryce Douglas scored 15 of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter. He hit three 3’s and showed some craftiness off the bounce. You won’t find many sophomores in the area who can put the ball in the basket like Douglas.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | SKYLER SPRINGS | BRIAR WOODS ’17
Despite the fourth quarter explosion by Douglas, Skyler Springs did a tremendous job limiting his touches. Springs also secured 7 rebounds. He’s a talented football player, but definitely knows how to make an impact on the hardwood with his athleticism and effort.
BEST UNDER-THE-RADAR PERFORMANCE | HUNTER AUCH | BRIAR WOODS ’19
Along with his prolific shooting touch from the perimeter, several other things stood out about Auch’s game. He recorded 5 boards along with 5 assists and a steal.
BEST INTANGIBLES | HUNTER AUCH | BRIAR WOODS ’19
Auch showcased a high basketball IQ and was an alert help defender. He showed good fundamentals and consistently communicated, especially on the defensive end.
BEST GUY OFF THE BENCH
No significant contributions came from either team off the bench in this contest.
BEST REBOUNDER | CAM TIMMONS | BRIAR WOODS ’18
Timmons was an absolute monster on both the offensive and defensive glass. He secured a game-high 13 rebounds.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | BRYCE DOUGLAS | BISHOP IRETON ’19
This wasn’t an easy choice given the intriguing guard matchup, but Douglas gets the nod after his fourth quarter surge. Douglas is super smooth and loves to compete.
BEST PASSER | HUNTER AUCH | BRIAR WOODS ’19
It isn’t quite clear if Auch is a point or a wing at this point, but what we do know is he has very good vision. Auch is a skilled, unselfish guard who can and will consistently create open looks for his teammates.
