Conference Commentary
State Contender: Watertown-Mayer, Annandale
Both teams bring back their top player in Trae Berhow and Jarod Wilken respectively but Berhow has more of last year’s top role guys back while Annandale lost some key starters. With the Royals having more back, plus Pepperdine committed Berhow who had double figure D1 offers, they have the edge and should be a state contender.
On the Verge: New London-Spicer
At four games under .500 and without their all conference player you would think they would take a dive but we really liked what we saw from them this summer and we hold Brandon Adelman in very high regard. We think he can team with some of the older players and get this program a couple games over average.
Around .500: Litchfield, Rockford
Litchfield has some of their top pieces back led by Noah Kreger and Brandon Nelson but they only won six games a year ago. They will be better for sure but how much? Rockford shared part of the league title last season but lost much of their rotation. Jake Hall is a solid returning starter but they need more.
In-Between: Dassel-Cokato, Mound-Westonka
Mound-Westonka could have been really good if Griffin Sage hadn’t transferred, now we just think they will be competitive but the record will look like last years. They have two starters back while the Chargers have their best player back in Treveor Kaiser, and then nothing else from their top seven.
Rebuilding: Glencoe-Silver Lake
The Panthers were 8-19 last season and only have one key piece back and that’s Luke Fraham. Too many questions right now after a year scoring only 51 points per game.
