C.J. Jones followed through on his commitment to Northwestern State, made on Aug. 21, by signing with the Demons Wednesday. Jones broke out in his first season at Wossman last year as a junior, averaging 23.3 points, 7.4 assists and 4 rebounds per game. Jones played his first two years at Ouachita while his father was the head coach there; Casey Jones took over the head coaching job at his alma mater before last season.
C.J. Jones made his biggest splash last year when he sunk a halfcourt buzzer-beater in the 3A semifinals to beat Peabody, leading Wossman to be the only Louisiana team to beat Peabody last year. The shot sent the Wildcats to the state championship game, where they ultimately lost to University Lab.
