Thanksgiving Day will give you all the basketball you can take after an excellent first two days of tournament basketball.
Review of Scores
Chicago Uplift 106, Marimon Academy 50.
In a game that got out of hand quickly, Chicago Uplift controlled it throughout with their athleticism and showed some nice shooting as well. Toraze Dobbs scored 28 points while the new Kansas commit Markese Jacobs scored 17.
Indianapolis Manual (IN) 90, Urbana 74
While there were almost 60 turnovers there was also a ton of scoring. Urbana fought til the end against the much taller lineup of Manual, but could not make a run at the end. Urbana’s Kristion Dixon had 21 points and 10 boards while Courvoisier McCauley had 28 points, 10 boards and seven steals for Manual.
Anaheim Esperanza (CA) 54, Chicago Kenwood 44
Kenwood struggled to find offense in this game with a few key scorers gone due to graduation but the win would have game tough with 6’8 Stanford commit Kezie Okpala running the point. He had 32 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge.
Sunrise Christian (KS) 52, Wesley Christian (KY) 40
Sunrise’s post man was too much for Wesley to handle in this one. 6’11 Texas A&M Isiah Jacobs scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Sunrise. Wesley will face Redemption Christian (NY) next which will be another big test.
Washington 58, Union City (TN) 53
Washington came out fast to start in this one as Devin Whitelow scored nine points in the first quarter. Union City would not go away though on the back of Ole Miss commit Parker Stewart who had 26 in the game. An impressive win for the host school.
Spartansburg Day (SC) 89, Proviso East 77
Proviso could not contain one of the top ranked players in the nation but kept it close throughout the game. The 6’8 Zion Williamson had 50 points and 10 dunks, both of which broke the TOC record. He also added in 16 rebounds and five blocks.
What to Look Forward For on Day 3
Zion Williamson (Spartansburg Day) vs. Kezie Okpala (Esperanza)
One of the more intriguing matchups in the tournament will be when these two guys go at it. Even though they are both out of state teams, the gym will be packed after their showings on Day 2. These two could go for 90+ combined.
Can Chicago Uplift keep it going?
After an impressive 56 point victory on Day Two, can Uplift convert that into momentum for their game against Union City? Union City has a little more talent than Marimon and PG Parker Stewart won’t let Uplift embarrass them.
Will Isiah Jacobs have another field day?
Even though the Sunrise star faced off with a 6’10 opposing center, he still dropped 19 points and 14 rebounds. Will he keep his play going as he faces off with Legacy Charter (SC) and their two 6’10 bigs which includes Georgia commit Nicolas Claxton.
Will height conquer?
In the final matchup on Day 3, Faith Christian (VA) will take on St. Louis Soldan (MO) in game of David and Goliath. Faith Christian brings in 7’2 Liberty commit Brendan Newton while St. Louis Soldan’s tallest player stands at just 6’5. How will the height difference mess with the visitors from Missouri?
