Below is part two of our breakdown of the most under recruited players in the class, at a number of different levels. Stay tuned for more content, including additional position-by-position break-downs, biggest stock boosters, and more.
Cam Henry | 6’4” WG | LC Bird (83 Overall)
Henry, who transferred to LC Bird two seasons ago, is still very under the radar because he’s new to the VA scene, but he’s shown in a short time that he can flat out play. Last season he was more of a role player that guarded the best defender, but this summer he showed that he’s a big combo guard that can do a lot of things. He can handle the rock and get his team into sets, is a good shooter from multiple levels, is an athletic finisher and he’s willing to accept a role. He’s picked up recent interest from schools at all three NCAA levels.
Nick Ball | 6’0” WG | Loudoun County (#100 Overall)
Ball was a 4A All State performer for Loudoun County last season, yet he’s still under the radar because he doesn’t play in one of the bigger areas in the DMV. What Ball does is shoot it, and shoot it very well. He moves well without the ball, can shoot it off the bounce out of pick-and-rolls and he’s not afraid to let it fly in transition either. He’s on a number of D3 schools’ radars, but his senior year will tell a lot about him. He’ll be the go-to guy on a team that surprised many people by almost finishing with an undefeated regular season. If he can show that he can lead a winning team he’ll be a player many coaches will want to have.
Jordan Hamlette | 6’2” PG | Heritage-Lynchburg (#104 Overall)
He plays in an area that’s more well known for football, so a hooper like Hamlette often goes unnoticed. Don’t get fooled however, cause he’s a backcourt mismatch for many teams. He can play on or off the ball, can shoot it from deep, rebounds well for his size and is a very strong finisher in traffic. He has good vision and takes care of the basketball when he’s at the one, and he’s constantly making plays that helps his team win games. He has interest from a number of division two and division three schools.
Curtis Cooper | 6’1” PG | Deep Run (#137 Overall)
He’s been overshadowed at Deep Run the past two seasons, but Cooper’s a smart playmaking guard that sees the floor and scores it well in the midrange. His numbers are never out of this world, but he protects the basketball while also seeing the floor and getting his team into their sets. The lefty is a smooth athlete, defends the basketball well and always has a calm demeanor on the court. He’s one of those players that almost every in state division three school is after.
Brian Harris | 5’7” PG | Armstrong (#146 Overall)
Don’t let his size fool you, because Harris has produced every year for Armstrong since he was a sophomore. He plays with great pace, directs traffic well in the half court, lives in the lane and can always gives his teammates easy scoring opportunities. He also loves big games, playing his best basketball usually against the best guards in the Richmond area. The floor general isn’t on many coaches radars, however one D2 coach told me while watching him “If I was at a division thee school he’d be on the top of my list.” Expect a big season from Harris, whether you hear about it or not.
