Region 7 is arguably the best region top to bottom in the entire state regardless of classification. Every team has go to players that can take over a game at anytime. Region 7 includes Skyridge, Provo, Timpanogos, Alta, Mountain View, Corner Canyon, Orem, and Timpview. Here is our list of the top 5 players in Region 7.
- Connor Fulton (Alta High School) The 6’4 senior shooting guard is one of the best shooters in the state and has been a consistent scorer for the Hawks. Last season Fulton averaged over 13 points per game and looks to increase that average this year. In the season opener against Skyline, Fulton had 18 points including 4 three pointers. Fulton holds an offer from the University of North Dakota and that seems to be the correct level for him.
- Braxton Bailey (Provo High School) The 6’6 senior forward has quietly become one of the best forwards in the state. Bailey averaged close to 16 points per game last season and made 34 three pointers. His ability to play inside and out has made him a tough cover for defenses. Bailey is a low D1 and high D2 prospect.
- Hunter Ericson (Timpview High School) The 6’3 junior guard is ready to prove he’s among the elite guards in the state. Ericson was a key reserve last season for a Timpview team that lost in the 4A state championship. After having a good summer playing for Utah Exum Elite, I expect Ericson to blow up this year and be one of the top players in Region 7. He is a low D1 prospect and could be higher if he continues to grow.
- Ricky Stafford (Mountain View) The 6’2 senior guard is finally completely healthy from cancer and is ready to take off. Stafford averaged over 10 points per game last season for the Bruins. With the graduation of big-time scorer Brigham Bateman, I think stafford will be the top scorer in Region 7. Stafford is a low D1 and high D2 prospect.
- Conner Halford (Timpanogos) The 6’2 senior guard showed last year that he is a lights out shooter. Halford averaged over 12 points per game while connecting on 44 three pointers. I think we will see his scoring average increase this season. With his shooting ability Halford is a solid D2 prospect.
