SG RJ McGee (Kenwood – 2018)
Friday was the best we have ever seen this Kenwood 6’3” shooting guard. McGee has always been a freak athlete which we saw on the circuit over the summer with All-In/Young & Reckless. The skill set is starting to emerge with the talented two guard. McGee hit a variety of mid-range and jumpers with consistency throughout the day. Shoots it with pure mechanics, elevation, and balance. Also got out in the transition game where he is a high flier with his athleticism and speed. Rebounds well for his position snatching 50/50 balls. Potential to be a plus defender at the next level with his lateral quickness and anticipation. McGee had 16 points against Spartansburg. Should be on the low-major radar.
PG Octavius Parker (Kenwood – 2017)
Parker is a combo guard that is best when he is able to spot up and hit shots. He did just that in both games on Friday. The Kenwood guard got his team going in key moments of both games with his perimeter shooting. He has a free flowing release with smooth mechanics. He is limited in other areas, but is intriguing as a shooter at potentially the D2 level. Parker had 18 points against Spartansburg.
PG Bryson Langdon (Kenwood – 2017)
It was kind of a quiet showing for the guard from Utah making his debut with Kenwood after setting out last year. He is a quick guard that pushes the ball and can score in spurts, but didn’t do much of that. Langdon was in set up mode most of the time. Did have a nice and-1 against Proviso East. Projects as a D3/NAIA prospect.
SF David Hunt (Kenwood – 2017)
Hunt has steadily seen his stock and game improve. The 6’5” forward used to be looked at as an undersized four. He has made considerable improvement in his perimeter game especially with his ball handling. Hunt had several attacks off the bounce that a year ago he couldn’t have made. With his strong body he can take a bump at the rim. Works great out of the mid-post. Plus rebounder that competes against bigger opponents. Hunt should be a priority guy at the D3/NAIA level.
PG Calvin Hill (Kenwood – 2017)
Hill is coming off a big summer where he raised his stock playing with All-In/Young & Reckless. Hill pushes the tempo and can hit an open three. Solid showing, but nothing spectacular. High D3/NAIA kid.
SF Naseer Turner (Kenwood – 2018)
Turner was the prospect I was most looking forward to seeing on Kenwood. The long and lanky 6’5” junior small forward has a lot of the physical tools you look for in a prospect. Turner has gotten stronger in his lower half since we last saw him. Flashed ability with a couple mid-range jumpers and getting out in transition. Always leaves you wanting more. High ceiling prospect that could be a low-major player if he maxes out.
F Jamal Smith (Proviso East – 2017)
Smith is a 6’6” combo forward with a good build and athleticism to go with it. He shined with his energy and motor. The senior forward got on the glass relentlessly and cleaned up with put backs. Very good rebounder that has the ability to finish through contact. Not overly skilled at this point. Smith had 20 points and 14 rebounds against Anaheim Esperanza. He is worth a look at the JUCO level.
SG Tyler Chisom (Proviso East – 2017)
Chisom is one of the top wing defenders in the state. The Proviso East wing plays with Chicago toughness and a motor that has become his calling card. Offensively Chisom is a slashing wing that takes straight line drives toward the rack. He doesn’t care who is in the lane he is going to the hoop with authority. The senior guard does a good job of finishing or getting to the charity stripe. Struggles shooting free throws and isn’t much of a perimeter shooter. Chisom rebounds very well for a guard and is a prime time defender with his tenacity and toughness. Chisom had 15 points against Anaheim Esperanza. He is one of the top JUCO prospects in Illinois.
SG Quinlan Bennett (Proviso East – 2018)
Bennett was not good in his team’s two games on Friday. Probably the worst I have seen him after an outstanding summer. He looked disinterested and passive. He did compete on the defensive end with his length and versatility. When we saw Bennett on Saturday he showcased what his game is about hitting jumpers from both mid-range and three. Good form both off the bounce and catch. Slippery through traffic and is a good ball handler. Bennett should be monitored by low-major programs.
PF Jordan Morris (Proviso East – 2018)
Solid showing out of the 6’5” power forward from Proviso East. He is a physical specimen with his defensive end like strength and elite athleticism. Tenacious rebounder that flies around and snatches them out of the air. Plays with a lot of energy on the glass. Offensively he uses his athleticism and quickness inside to make plays. Not overly skilled, but will flash a nice move off the bounce every now and then.
PG Trevor Moore (Proviso East – 2018)
Moore is a point guard that has steadily improved. He is a sound passer that makes crisp dishes to his teammates. Moves the ball in the half court. Also proved to be a plus shooter off the catch. One to continue to monitor.
PG Jaelon Hood (Proviso East – 2018)
Hood is a point guard that is shifty with the ball in his hands and is an active on ball defender. A bit loose with the ball at times.
SG Brennan Woods (Harvest Christian – 2017)
Woods was major offensive threat for Harvest Christian in their early morning contest. The 6’4” senior shooting guard has a strong build and solid athleticism. He is a streaky shooter, but on Friday they were going in. He dropped one after another from beyond the three point arc. When his shot is on he is a versatile offensive threat. Also got on the glass for multiple put backs. Woods went for 20 points. Potential D2 prospect that would be outstanding at the high D3/NAIA level.
G JJ Flores (Harvest Christian – 2018)
Flores showed well on the defensive end of the floor. He is a 6’2” combo guard that has active hands and gets in passing lanes when playing off the ball. Puts pressure on opposing point guards. Rebounded well from the guard position. Flores is an athletic guard that flies to the rim. At time he has trouble finishing at the rim throwing up crazy shots. Good in transition with his speed.
PG Andre White (Harvest Christian – 2019)
White is a quick and shifty 5’9” sophomore point guard that can over dribble and is a bit turnover prone at times. He is also an exciting playmaker with the ball pushing the tempo and getting in/out of traffic. Streaky shooter. Pesky on ball defender that gets several steals a game.
SG Collin Woods (Harvest Christian – 2020)
The younger brother of Brennan is this 6’2” shooting guard with a long and rangy frame. Flashed ability when the ball was in his hands. Extremely smooth acceleration off the bounce. Had an acrobatic layup at the rim. Worth monitoring.
