Sunnyslope Tournament MVP
Kyle Fischer 6’3 G/F Sunnyslope 2018 – Fischer was huge in leading Sunnyslope to winning the Sunnyslope Tournament championship. Fischer has a balanced game to allows him to make an impact in an array of ways. He is a skilled guard with a solid handle and a good ability to shoot the basketball. Moreover, he is a good on ball defender and one of the best rebounders in the state for his position. His upside is through the roof, and he is a young man that many colleges should be aware of.
Sunnyslope Tournament 1st Team
Chris Orozco 6’6 F Sunnyslope 2018 – Orozco has improved his game greatly. His ability to extend the court with his consistent mid-range jumper adds a lot to this Sunnyslope roster. In addition to shooting the basketball well, he plays his role very well. He gets on the glass, plays tough defense, and protects the paint. For Sunnyslope to continue their success, Orozco will have to continue his solid play.
Bryce Fowler 6’6 SG Agua Fria 2017 – Fowler is without a doubt one of the smartest players in the state. His basketball IQ is through the roof and he shoots the basketball at an extremely high rate. His size, length, and shooting ability make him a mismatch in most games. He is capable of playing anywhere from the 1-4 for Agua Fria, but probably fits in best at the 2 or 3 spot at the next level. He will make a lot of noise this next year in his senior campaign.
Duron McNeal 5’11 PG Agua Fria 2018 – McNeal sets the tempo for Agua Fria. His ability to shoot the basketball from deep and dictate the tempo of the game aided Agua Fria in their tournament run. For this team to continue its success this season, Agua Fria will need him to continue playing at a high level.
TJ Connaker 5’11 PG Sandra Day O’Connor 2018 – Connaker’s ability to lead this team was quite evident. He has a good basketball IQ and manages the game well. He is a top tier shooter who always seems to find a way to make an impact. In addition to his offensive skill set, Connaker has improved defensively and demonstrated an ability to guard quick and strong guards. Connaker will be a vital member to a much improved O’Connor team.
Keaton Rodgers 6’4 F/C Sandra Day O’Connor 2019 – Rodgers had a great tournament and demonstrated a high ability to play the 4/5 position despite his age and being slightly undersized. Rodgers has an extremely high ceiling and demonstrated just that this weekend. His versatility make him an intriguing prospect who has a lot of time to continue to improve his game. I expect Rodgers to have a great season and make quite a name for himself.
